Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Kevin BurdickAs you start seeing the on-line advertisements for Heroes of Kung Fu, the next big web game from http://www.webmmo.com/, you’ll hear a familiar voice behind the beautiful visuals.  Yep, it’s yours truly.  I’m flattered to be the music behind their most anticipated on-line game.  I hope that individuals among their 30 Million Players who aren’t familiar with me, will soon discover my unique sound.

Release Me Photo Video Diary by Jared Platt

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

A huge thank you to Internationally Renowned photographer Jared Platt (www.plattphotography.com) for assembing this incredible photo montage from our various photo shoots over the years.  Jared has always been a friend and a supporter, as I am of his work also.  Big luck and big thanks to him for everything he does to support me in my efforts.

Here’s a good laugh for you…

Kevin Funny FaceHere’s a good laugh for you.  A lot of people don’t realize that I don’t just do music, but I’ve done some modeling and comedy too.  Here’s an example of a very Will Ferrel-esque commercial I did, where the makers simply ran the camera and allowed me to improvise the entire scene.  Funny stuff.  I became this character off and on for this company (as sort of the company mascot – an over-the-top obnoxious doctor), performing at conventions and on other promo videos over the better part of a year.  Enjoy.

The Wake Me Alive Video Shoot!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Wake Me Alive Video SetThis last weeks shoot for the “Wake Me Alive” music video was a full and wild day of shooting.  The crew showed up on-the-set at Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City, Utah at 7 AM last Friday and began getting the set ready for the hospital scene in the video (you’ll note I’m in a coma in some of the photos).  The rest of us stumbled in about 8 AM and started getting our costumes, hair, and make-up straightened out.  I can only image what the students at the college were thinking as they saw a sweaty shirtless tattooed man running around the halls followed by a video crew (I’ll leave the reasons behind those scenes to your imagination).  By midnight, we had created the building blocks of a masterpiece (or so I’m told).

Kevin and KannikaBig thanks to Kannika Coley who plays my ‘love interest’ in the video – she did a great job and we had great on-camera chemistry - Jaime Fletcher for filling in as the nurse on the video, Cynthia Dean for her hair and make-up work, and the entire crew at Super Heumann Productions for their super-human efforts.  The video should be released on-line in mid-October and we will be posting more details as we get closer to it’s release.  The single “Wake Me Alive” is currently available on iTunes.

INTERNET STAR BRINGS HIS SHOW AND HIS MUSIC TO THE BAY AREA!

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Kevin Burdick will soon be bringing his hit Internet reality show “Who in the Hell is Kevin Burdick?” to the Bay Area! As the piano rocker and Salt Lake City native loads up all of his worldly possessions onto his tour bus and sets out for the Golden State in April, nothing will be safe from the camera. Burdick is the namesake star of “Who in the Hell is Kevin Burdick?” an Internet reality show that documents his trials and tribulations as an independent musician on the verge of breaking through to the big-time.

Burdick is already a YouTube favorite—the music video for his song “Firefly” has racked up nearly 11,000 hits just in the past few months. Now with record label Racelden Records behind him, Burdick is set to take the Bay Area by storm, hitting other West Coast locations on the way. The show not only features footage from live shows with Burdick and his band, which includes many talented musicians from major label Maverick/Warner Brothers Records, but also chronicles all the hilarious and highly personal moments that happen everywhere in between, shot by tour tag-along and cameraman A.J. Lucero. Of course, the title wouldn’t be a good one if viewers didn’t get to know just that—who in the Hell IS this guy?

In Episode 1, “Deeply Wounded,” Burdick talks about the inspiration for many of his more autobiographical songs, such as the song he wrote for his baby daughter who passed away, set to a montage of photos of her when she was born, and those he wrote following his painful divorce. “Love, loss, pain, triumph and success—that’s what’s behind many of my songs,” Burdick tells the camera.

Episode 2, entitled “Stubbornly Optimistic,” follows Burdick and his back-up band as they embark on their first Las Vegas tour. They make the long drive to pick up Burdick’s new $48,000-tour bus, which he admits to the camera he had to sell off many personal investments to afford, and play a few gigs under the bright lights of Sin City. The tour proves to be a highly-attended phenomenal one, and the presence of the camera certainly squashes any idea of what happens staying in Vegas, as drunken audience members offer up many mishaps and misadventures. “So many times we’ve had these kinds of adventures and we’ve thought, ‘Man, if only we had a camera!’” Burdick says. “So my business manager and I had the idea. It’s fun to give people a glimpse into my life and what it’s like to be an up-and-coming artist in this industry, and all the challenges and good times that go along with it.”

Burdick will officially be making the journey to the Bay Area in April, with live shows along the way and taking place locally upon his arrival. Burdick reports that Episode 3 of “Who in the Hell is Kevin Burdick?” should be hitting the Internet airwaves by March 12.
